TZT is an improvisational whirligig from St. Catharines/Hamilton, combining sound poetry, noise, free jazz, and what appears to be a frog in a blender. Their forthcoming album JETZT, with The Nihilist Spasm Band, will be available in Summer/Fall 2026. TZT is Gary Barwin (voice & winds), Gregory Betts (voice), Devon Fornelli (percussion), Arnold McBay (guitar), and Ben Mikuska (bass).

Rooted in improvisation and free jazz, their work explores the unseen layers of sound—where one piece of music seems to echo another. There’s always a sense of what music could have been, what lingers after it fades, and the forms that appear only briefly before dissolving. Translucent harmonies, ghost-like melodies, and fleeting structures shape an experience that feels both present and otherworldly.
